terror

strobe-whiteness blinds me
obscuring the vision
revealed by prophet and priest
and i grasp at straws

 obscuring my vision
i beg to idolize manifestation
and i grasp at straws
terrified by witnesses

begging to idolize manifestation
revealed by prophet and priest
terrified by the witness
strobe-whiteness blinded me

He did not know what to say, for they were terrified.

Memory

Niagara Falls, Canada - Picture by pdam2

I really couldn’t believe it when I heard
The rainbow is placed in the sky
Not for the benefit of the world
But to remind you to keep your promise

The rainbow placed in the sky
Is a container of hopes unlived
Reminding you to keep your promise
Seems so shallow and cruel

As a container of hopes unlived
For the benefit of the world
It seems so shallow and cruel
That I really couldn’t believe it when I heard.

Shalom.

March 10: Slavery

Divine Beloved

From ascensionnow.posterous.com

Beloved

Your embrace is enslaving my heart
Enrapturing my soul and pulling me close
Reflecting the cosmos’ infinite abundance
The light of the world wooing her love

Enrapturing my soul and pulling me close
Whispering sweet nothings of service and devotion
The light of the world wooing her loves
Enslaved to all in freedom’s universal dance

Whispering sweet nothings of service and devotion
Reflecting the cosmos’ infinite abundance
Enslaved to all in freedom’s universal dance
Your embrace is enslaving my heart

Today is “Harriet Tubman Day.”  Tubman was abolitionist.  She helped many slaves escape to freedom on the Underground Railroad.  Reflect on slavery, in whatever form.

Beloved Community

Incarceration

doors clang open and shut
controlled by anonymous guardian
benefactor, antagonist, never friend
while longing for love or glance

controlled by anonymous guardian
heir of wisdom unlearned waits
while longing for love or glance
postponed but not delayed

heir of wisdom unlearned waits
emptying of pain and filling of love
postponed but not delayed
finding a foothold in new life

emptying of pain and filling of love
benefactor, antagonist, ever friend
finding a foothold in new life
doors once shut, now open

Written for Poetry Potluck
Prompt:  Aims, Goals, and
Ambitions

Explanation:  My goal is to create a bridge community between those who are incarcerated and their loved ones on the outside.   Opening the doors to healthy, community relationships.
